Dengue Vaccine

Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, primarily Aedes aegypti. These mosquitoes thrive in tropical and subtropical climates, making regions like Bali susceptible to outbreaks.

CDC recommends dengue vaccination for children 9 through 16 years old. Sanmed Medical provide Dengue Tretravalent vaccine for children and adults to prevents dengue fever infection caused by 4 serotypes of the dengue virus which is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus mosquito.

Symptoms

Dengue fever symptoms usually appear 4-10 days after a mosquito bite and can include:

  • High fever
  • Severe headache
  • Pain behind the eyes
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Rash
  • Mild bleeding (e.g., nose or gum bleed, easy bruising)

In severe cases, dengue can progress to dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome, both of which can be life-threatening.

Vaccine Contradictions

QDENGA

History of severe allergies to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever vaccine components.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Immunological disorders (such as HIV).

Immunosuppressive therapy (chemotherapy, high-dose systemic corticosteroids for 14 days or more).
